I applied for a Best Buy card via their website and I received a message telling me that my application needs further review. I had a Best Buy card with them in the past and the card was never paid late, and the card was closed after the balance was paid.
Since closing that card, I had financial trouble and my credit score dropped. But all of my credit card debt has been paid and my score is recovering. Does it help that I had a card with them in the past and maybe they’re looking into that to get me approved?
Thanks!
Generally, a past relationship doesn't really have any weight when someone applies for a card which they had closed. It all depends on your current profile. If your scores have dropped from when you had originally gotten the card and is lower now, or you have any negatives, then a lender will not overlook that based on a prior relationship. Any reason why you had closed the card back then?

+1 to this unfortunately, if things have changed in your profile since you closed the card then it is like a new beginning.
