Howdy all. I'm 22 with three credit cards currently, an AmEx EveryDay card, Discover It card, and Chase Sapphire Preferred card. Yesterday I called the guys over at Luxury Card and applied for the Titanium Card over the phone. At the end of the application I was told that I would receive a response via mail in 7-10 days, which in my experience means I was not approved. I have an income of roughly 42,500 year year, is that too low for this card? Would any other factors apply? My credit score is around 750 so I wouldn't think that would be a factor.
CreditKarma reported an inquiry from Barclays which I thought to occur only if I was approved - is that the case or can an inquiry still appear if I'm denied as well?
Thoughts appreciated! ![]()
Edit: I called the backdoor number for Barclays in the meantime and they said my application was still pending. She finished it over the phone with me and I was approved. It'll be here in 7-10 days! ![]()

OP, congrats on your approvals. Just so you know, anytime you apply for a credit card you should expect a hard pull on your credit. Approved or denied doesn't matter. There are some lenders that at times do soft pulls or as in the case of Amex, sometimes you will only get the hard pull if approved once you are already a cardmember.
Thank you and thank you for that information! I thought I read somewhere a while ago that an inquiry was only 'solidified' if you were in fact approved. I guess that doesn't make much sense since your credit is being pulled regardless.
Im a noob here so let me ask a noob question:
Why would you want this card that has ~$200 AF? As a status thing or what?
What perks does it offer that makes it worth while?
@CaptainSchlitz: It's a bit of status, a bit of the fact that it's solid stainless steel, and the rewards program is decent. I travel a lot for work and play and they double your point value when redeeming for travel.
@Dinosaur: Thanks for the welcome! I figured I'd try my hand at those backdoor numbers, I'm happy to say it worked
.

FIrst welcome to the forum. In regards to yhe question you asked the OP. I can not answer specifically for him buy I can give you an answer. These cards (Titanium, Black and Gold) do have a fairly high fee attached to these cards, but honestly so do a few others. I have 3 cards that have a high annual fee, Amex Platinum, Chase Rits Infinite and the Black Card (Luxury card version, not Amex). For me, each of my cards serve their purpose. I for one spend a lot on my cards throughout the year. I think somewhere between $180,000 and $220,000 per year. THis spend comes from both personal and business expenses. The rewards based on my spend are well worth the fees that I pay. While some people get a card because of the popssibility of "Status" or because someone else is doing it or for any number of other reasons. I have their black card version becasue of my traveling, the account credits as well as my spend habits.
