Apply for 2nd Chase card in one month

Was approved for the Chase Freedom Flex on the 3rd of March 2023.  I want to apply for the Chase Sapphire Preferred since my daughter is about to graduate and my wife and I want to travel.  This would allow me time to hit $4k in three months. I am now at 4/24 with the FF as #4.  I try the preapproval but it shows nothing since I just applied for a card.  I read Chase allows 2 in 30 days.  What would my chances be?  My sig is up to date.  Spent 1k on the Freedom so far and is at a 0 balance.  My scores dropped due to the hardpull by Equifax - 7, Experian -9.  Transunion dropped 13 pts due to Discover not reporting on time and was my AZERO card. Experian also dropped - 34 points for IDK why.  I have no baddies.  1 percent uti on one card all others at $0.  My credit age is around 1.8 years since I did not use any credit for over ten years.  I have a mortage and 2 car payments.  I know when the Freedom Flex reports it will drop my credit age and my score will drop as well.

Hard to say specifically what your odds of approval would be but you wouldn't be tripped up by their various rules intended to prevent their inclusion in app sprees (5/24, only 1 application per day, etc).

If denied you should call for recon.  As part of that process consider if as a last resort you're willing to suggest that they reallocate $5K of your existing Freedom Flex limit to gain an approval.  While not a given that they will do that in your case it is something that they sometimes will do.

Thanks. On Experian's website it shows the CSP is preapproved but idk if that's just marketing.  I can't believe I took such a hard hit on my Experian credit score for one inquiry.  From 772 to 738.  No other change except a 1 dollar increase on my Azero card.  Looked at before CR and todays no other change. Experian says I was hit for recent looking for credit.

You have the scores and meet the 5/24 criteria but hard to say what your approval odds would be in relation to your AAoA and whether they may view it as credit seeking or not, that's a toss up. Also why I definitely agree you should call for recon if needed, as suggested here.

Ok. I'll probably go into the branch to try and get the new 90k welcome bonus. Hopefully that improves my odds as well.
