Why do you feel you need so much at one time?  As a student you plan on having 5 credit cards?

You'd probably keep higher grades the less stress you have on your shoulders.  Keep in mind, it's not a good idea to take on too much risk before you get your first college educated job because your employer will probably check your credit score before hiring you.

Life is a marathon, not a 40 yard dash.

Totally agree.  So many people are addicated to credit cards.  Better use your time to get good grades and get better job.  Better to make more $$$, than playing the credit card games....

It's a solid plan. I'd do Discover first, then Barclays. Barclays is a jealous lover when it comes to opening accounts after them.

Re: Applying for 3 credit cards at once

I would do Amex, Discover and then get the Chase Freedom.  I would stay away from Barclay's,  too many stories of undeserved AA.

None of the other three seem to be nearly as jealous of other creditors as Barclay's. I would be willing to give up the 1% and get a Capital One Savor if I wanted a dining card.

Big note for you, Green Checkmark offers from Chase bypass 5/24 and I've never heard of one of them being denied unless there was a huge recent change in reports.  I received both my FU and CSP while well over 5/24.

Re: Applying for 3 credit cards at once

I think you should have no problem with the Discover It Student. They instantly approved me with no revolving history and 1 student loan 1 year old.
Barclay’s might be a little harder but I think you will also get approved. I applied for the Barnes and Noble because my textbook store is from Barnes and Noble. I applied and it went pending but the recon lady was super nice and approved it.

It is my opinion to build a solid foundation of credit as early as possible. I have quite a few cards that I opened in the last 3 months. By the time I graduate in 2.5 years I’d have a solid credit report. I’d say you’re on the right track and these 3 cards won’t hurt at all!

Good luck!
