Apologies if this has been asked and answered before. I wasn't able to find if it had in these forums.
Could applying for a CLI on a Capital One card help or hurt my chances of getting approval for a different card if they're done within a week or so of each other?
I am considering applying for a Venture X card later this month, after the 3 month anniversary of my last new card approval with a different bank. I would probably wait 3 more months, except that I am concerned that the current bonus will end soon.
I am also seeing that the 6 month anniversary of my last auto-CLI with Capital 1 (Quicksilver) has passed a few days ago. I am not sure whether doing that would help or hurt my chances of getting approved for a Venture X. I believe that I've used the card enough over the last few months (while paying it in full every mont) to potentially get an auto-CLI anyway. Given that, I believe applying for a soft pull CLI might make it more likely to hurt my chances of getting approved than otherwise, but I'm not completely sure.
Use their pre-approval tool to see if you qualify for any of their cards. While it may not show an offer for VX, looking at what you are and are not preapproved for may give you a good indication of whether you'd be approved. If you have preapprovals for everything but VX, it's probably safe to apply. If you only have preapprovals for Platinum or the One cards, I'd avoid applying for VX.

Thank you for responding, but this doesn't answer the question I was asking. I was wondering if asking if asking for and getting a CLI with Capital One could hurt my chances of getting a Venture X card later this month.
I am not pre approved right now, but I believe chances will be better later in the month when my newest card turns 3 months old.

Requesting a CLI in it of itself should not hurt your chances as far as applying for another Capital One product. CLI requests are SP anyway. If denied, no harm no foul. If approved, it's doubtful it would be anything substantial like hitting a battleship with a pebble 🤷♂️
Typically, the most significant reported CLIs are those performed automatically by their system. More often than not, depending on how one uses their account, any customer-initiated requests tend to yield around $100-$200, if approved.
As suggested upthread, if you're aiming for Venture X (or any other Capital One CC), I would wait until your profile is matched with a pre-qualified offer before pulling the trigger.

The suggestion was that it shouldn't matter what you do beforehand - if the prequals are there, you can apply. If not, I wouldn't.
I would never cold app for CapOne. If you're not prequalified now, do your CLI, and then keep checking prequal page until you see the wide range of cards.
@SouthernCredit and @FinStar thank you for the information. I applied for a CLI with Capital One and didn't get it instantly, so I'll wait for the letter. 📫
