Re: Approval odds for Chase Freedom, and or CSP

Would have to slightly disagree with jamesdwi based on personal experience, which can absolutely vary so take it with a grain of salt.

Apped for Freedom in July - zero credit card history but approved for $500 low limit, one collection on EX later removed

Apped for CS in August - approved for $5000, moved $1500 over to Freedom card with no HP required

In your case I have no idea how things will turn out but wish you luck whatever you decide! Smiley Happy

I apped last week.  I always planned on apping for Freedom first then CSP because people say Freedom is easier.  After reading here a couple weeks ago about people who had CSP and were denied Freedom, I pulled trigger on CSP because I wanted that one more.  CSP approved for $5k.  Immediatly apped for Freedom, denied.  Called in to recon and they took a 2nd look and denied again.  Reason..."maximum credit from Chase at this time" to paraphrase.  The score they had for me was 687.  I had 5 late mortgage payments in 2012 and one paid collection of $70 that is about 5 years old.  I guess what I am saying is...if you are lucky to get one on your first app, I prob wouldnt waste an inquiry on a second....just wait 6 months.

What bureau did they pull for yours?

Re: Approval odds for Chase Freedom, and or CSP

I decided i'm going to wait on Chase for a bit and age some of my recent prime card approvals since the card i really want first is the CSP.

Thanks to all for the advice.
