When we applied for a car loan with our local CU about 14 months ago, a message with a pre-approval for a personal loan showed up on the account at the same time as the auto approval. It was the perfect timing for us and we used it for part of our kitchen reno. Just paid it off about 10 days ago.
Well we applied for a car loan for DH today (holding off on the car for now) and ended up with a pre-approval for a credit card. I was pretty sure we'd be able to request using the same pull for a CC, which is why I wasn't too shy to apply for the car loan before we'd settled on a deal for the car. It turns out the pre-approval was the card I would have requested anyway. It's the card WITH their best rate, but we didn't GET their best rate. We got 9.5% with no BT fees and $16.6k CL. It's a school employee's card, so it's got some perks that I wouldn't anticipate using like you can skip a payment here and only pay interest there. But as a place to carry a balance if needed, it's not bad. The offer is good for 60 days I think, so I've got time to think on it.
Hmmm......your scores look like you should be getting their best rate?.....Do you have high utilization somewhere? Or may they are just very particular with their scoring models. I say go for it, but buyer beware
Congrats!!
