My child applied for the first credit card the Customized Cash Rewards for Students, instant denied.
EX FICO 780 additional user on 4 cards, just turned 18.
A week later we received a letter asking for form SSA-89 and a paystub.
The information is going to be sent by mail tomorrow.
Let's see what happens.
Any recent experiences like this?

I have no experience like this, but it sounds really hopeful and I'm sending good wishes your way!

Yeah, me
If your social security number was not issued at birth like mine (typically immigration related), lenders may want to establish it's not a case of you (or me) using someone else's ss fraudulently. My social security number is 18 years younger than me.
Sometimes it happens even with numbers issued at birth, but this is more common scenario.
I filled out form, sent pay stubs, they approved.
It did take a good three weeks or longer.
Good luck with your application

Thanks, yes the SSN is just a couple of years old.
That must be it.
Now the status is "in review", this is good news.
The bad news is that Bank of America pulled Experian again a couple of days ago. I don't remember the letter saying that they may need to pull the credit again.
I hope they approve the card, 2 pulls for denial is going to be too much.

If the original pull was more than 30 days prior, the 2nd pull although unwelcome is understandable. Good luck!

31 days after the first one.
They can see only 2 pulls from 31 days before (Discover and Bank of America) and Discover reported the new card mid August. Don't know if that will be a problem or not. Only 3 hard pulls ever. Score more than 750 as an additional user even with the 24 point drop from HPs and new card. I'll report back with the conclusion.
Status update to Approved. Should receive the card in 7-10 days.
Awesome news and thank you for the update @newhis. As your family member has been approved, this thread is now locked and closed to new messages.
