Bank of America Secured Rewards card.

I've been reading that I need to call up once I'm approved and ask for them to switch the card to a rewards card, but I was wondering if they approve that for everyone? Or is there a chance I'll be declined for it.

Re: Bank of America Secured Rewards card.

My DW applied for the rewards card with no credit history, they offered the secured card in it was the rewards version from the start.

I asked for the secured card, and it was without rewards, I did a chat and they added the rewards before I got the regular card.

I read someone that they said it is not possible to add rewards to secured card, but then called again and was able to get it.

With BoA if you don't get what you want with first call/chat, do it again. Good luck.

+1 to Newhis

Call and ask to get Rewards added, if it's the regular secured, and if the first CSR says no, try again.

I'd recommend using the BofA secured backdoor number in the backdoor numbers stickied thread.

Hopefully things work out for you! I've had issues with BofA approvals in the past.

Re: Bank of America Secured Rewards card.

I have big issues with BOA. It always takes an act of congress to get anything done with them....I was told by multiple people they could product transfer a BOA CC to a BOA infinity CC, and when it was all said and done I was told a very rude no. Took calling the executive office to get them to actually do it, and that was a major hassile in itself. I got the card I wanted used it to get some extra rewards points, and it has been SD ever since!!

Re: Bank of America Secured Rewards card.

You can try, I know others have been successful. I haven't bothered putting much love on my original secured-unsecured card so I don't know.

I havent put a dime on any of my BofA cards in the past year. PC-Ed to BofA cash from Alaska once AF came due and my original travel secures (now unsecured)is also soc drawered. Ideally I'd like to move some of this limit to fidelity Amex but they've been unwilling to do so.

I should also call EO. But with possibility of fidelity leaving the BofA/Amex relationship the 2% cash card may be taken to the woodshed. So I've been mostly focusing on travel points

Declined, and recon attempt failed. Oh well, I'll try and knock off a few of these baddies and try again soon.
