Guess what came in the mail today? Another pre-qual, yup not falling for that again!

So I call in and they give me their lingo then tell me I was declined, I am not very happy with them because I would not have applied for the card and wasted a hit on my credit if they didn't send me all this "pre-selected" false paperwork!
Sorry to be blunt but pre-selected is not pre-approved. There are plenty of the same scenarios posted here with a search.
These "Prequalified Mailers" should be illegal. They flat our mislead you into thinking you will be approved. This is border line bait and switch or fraud. They even have words like "PreApproved" & "Reserved only for you" & "You are only one of a very select few". This is purposely misleading into making you believe you are approved. If you did this to a bank and misled them or lied your account at minimum would be canceled at the most they would prosecute you for bank fraud or "Lying under oath". That statement on every financial document you sign.
This is crazy. ONLY in the good ol US of A is this crap legal. I feel your disgust bro. Sorry this happened to you. Its tha bank in the wrong NOT you.
I applied for barclays card also because Credit Karma said my changes were Very Good getting approved. All I got was a hard pull on my credit which stays for 2 years. I will never fall for that again.
I have since got approved for a marathon gas card, and a Visa with a 3500 limit..That's all I need.
Did it list an exact APR or not? I would recon once or twice if you have to, and really need the card. Otherwise look at why they denied you and work on that.
Next time you app for barclays, assuming your AAOA isnt less than 1 year, you can always combine apps with them.
My advice, if denied after 2 recons, wait 6 months, work on what they mention, then pick 2 barclays products, app for both on a weekday morning.

Just curious why a weekday morning?

just to prevent any chances of something being held up and then UW is closed then you end up not getting the 2 apps done on the same day, thus defeating the purpose of combining inquiries.
