I wouldn't go that far.
I'd say as long as it's not an outright denial you're good to go.
Really? Every rep I ever talked to at Barclays said PC to Sallie Mae wasn't possible. You must app and be approved first.
Can't speak for other cards, Sallie Mae was only one I wanted... but that's the same song and dance I got for over a year from multiple reps.
I've also seen many posts that say the same...
I'm not talking about PC's to SM.
I am talking about apping for the card of your choice. You don't necessarily have to be instapproved. As long as it's not an instant denial, You have the opportunity to move some CL to open it.

Guess I'm not following you...
I never apped for Sallie Mae last year... I just asked if I could move my CL over and open the account... I was told no... multiple times by multiple reps. They all said the same thing... you must apply... be approved... then you can move CL over. You can not move CL over to open the account... you can only move CL over after the account is open via application approval.
Maybe it's a case by case thing... YMMV I guess.

If it goes to pending and stays there without going to "Decline". You can move CL over to open.
Yes this is correct, you have to apply before you can move CL.
Rarely but sometimes you can Product Change but that seems to be Apple to Rewards and sometimes Rewards to Arrival Platinum but no other co-branded or anything.

That's what I'm saying. I think? OMG we are in agreement?

for sure... not sure where the confusion started but I wasn't paying attention for a minute so wanted to clarify.
They did same thing to me. I recently got approved for the Rewards card, called back in a month later and asked to PC to the Arrival Plus, and they ran me around back and forth from UW to Customer Service. Then said "No, we need to see more history on the Rewards card". I pushed and pushed and she finally said, well, the points are even calculated different, so it wouldn't work. I said I'd forego any Rewards card points if I could have the Arrival Card. "Nope, sorry, too many new accounts, INQs, and not enough history on your Rewards card. I said, "Please can you just give me the Arrival Plus, it's what I really want, and I did actually apply for it after the Rewards card was approved, so hows about it". They are not nice nor humorous. No. No. No. HUCA. No. HUCA again, NO! When should i try again? "We can't tell you that". UGH! Barclay you are MEAN.

CA - you are right. They just recently PC-ed my Rewards (opened in April) to Arrival WMC (At least that is what I believe it is - I am sure that is what she said and I hope it isn'nt the Platinum version - I keep hearing that a platinum version of this card exists). It took FB message. I don't understand why they would not simply PC. Exposure to the bank is not changing - it is the same limit - just a different card for crying out loud.
I don't get it.
