Tried to recon, spoke to someone, and I some how knew based on his tone what the outcome would be. Says 4 new inquiries were the reason for no overturn. Based on some of the approvals on CP Database, my profile should be cake. I've seen approvals with 9+ inquiries, even 24 on one. I see these things are all hit or miss, especially when speaking to someone. That pretty much shut me down for a long long time unless I get a pre-approval through the mail.
An item to keep in mind, whatever individuals report or you see on other websites does not necessarily guarantee an approval for anyone. These are just high level data points that may not necessarily portray a fairly accurate outcome since everything is YEMV. It is likely there were other factors (besides the inquiries) that combined were unable to override the decision. You can try calling again, but they also keep notes when you call.
We spoke for a good 10 minutes, if not a little longer. Not sure what else he wouldn't say. He actually brought up a late payment 2 years ago from Fingerhut. Haven't been late since. And I only have 1 negative that's 7 years old that he didn't bother to mention. All he said was it was the 4 inquiries, (3 approvals, 1 denial) and asked me about those, and I explained. He said, "Thank you for being honest and I do understand, but unfortunately we can't overturn the decision at this time." I felt it was a bit petty, and that he could do it, but for some reason just didn't want to. At the very least, that's one card I won't bother with ever again. The mistake was falling for CK's fake pre-approval odds. I did my reading and see now to never to fall for that nonsense again.
i was denied 6 months ago because of new accounts as well with 650 score accross the board. Now the new accoutns had 1 year history abd My scores dropped to 630 and below BUT Barclay approved me for a $500cl.
These companies can be so weird - I have seen people with MUCH worse profiles than mine (in my estimation) get great cards, but I wouldn't worry about it. Give it sometime, or go for another card. Sorry he was such a d*ck.
I agree. I kind of look at it as a good thing to some degree, because I never actually "intended" to target a Barclay's, I just fell for CK's partner crap saying you have good odds of approval blah blah. Although it would have looked good in the wallet over a First Premier. My two targets are Discover and Amex down the road. When I get those, I'll feel as if I have finally arrived. lol
And hopefully my CapOne and QS1 will gain increases as well.

I usually do not like to post negative statements, but I think your mindset on your profile is a little off. Just because some or a lot of people get approved for a card based on certain information does not mean jack about another person getting approved. Barclay is notorious for denying applications based on rescent inq's and rescent new accounts. That being said, someone might have other data in their profile that outweighs the other stuff, which could cause their app being approved.
It doesn't matter if your scores are 650, 750 or 800, there is no guarantee for approval for any card.
Barclay likes to see a good 6 months of solid history from your last account addition has been my experience. I didn't apply or add any new acount for 6 months before getting my rewards card in a cold app andf got it.....just at a month later I cold apped for Apple card and got it to. Waiting for their relaese of the Jetblue card and the 6 month mark and trying for that one and then going to the Garden.....will have everything I need for a couple of years
JamesMS, I understand what you're saying, but yes your comment is negative and you should read the thread first because someone already stated what you said.
