Barclay Ring Approval Odds

I was looking to apply for the Barclay Ring Mastercard, and I was hoping to get some opinions on what my approval odds are, as I dont want to waste a hard pull. I currently have 6 HP on my Transunion report, but only one is within the last year (the apartment I just moved into a few weeks ago). The other 5 inqueries are over a year old each. I have 4 HP on both my EQ and EX, all of which are also over a year old. My main concern I suppose is that I currently have a Barclay card with a 5k limit, which I never use as it doesn't benefit me at all. After getting that card I applied for the Sallie Mae card about 1 month later and was denied, as they said it was too soon. Those were in November 2013, and December 2013. I've been carrying a balance on my Citi Diamond Preferred card, but my intoductory interest runs out this month and I would like to find a card for emergencies with a rate lower than 19%. no derogs on any accounts. Figured I would check to see what you guys thought. Thanks!

Re: Barclay Ring Approval Odds

You will be approved if those scores are current in your signature and you utilization is in check along with all your inquiry data you provided.. If worse comes to wose and you are at the exposure limit, which is doubtful you can move the limit from your other card to ring to open it.. Go for it IMO!  You have a long history with them.. Applying less than or a month after your first card with them being the SM you applied for was  a bad idea as they like 3 or more-so 6 months between applications with them.  Let us know the resultsSmiley Happy

Well from what you describe you're perfect for them. No new accounts in the last year. Utilization may play a factor in their decision but just tell them what you told us. Why you're carrying a balance and then just tell them you plan to pay it off after the introductory period runs out. You have a pretty good chance of getting the card. Don't forget if they deny you I believe.... you can take some of the limit from your other Barclay card to transfer over to this one. Hopefully someone chimes in to tell me if I'm wrong or not but I think I read it here.

Good luck! Remember, you can recon if it is instant denial (unlikely)! I just want a Barclay card but as you can see from my inquiries; they won't touch me with a ten foot pole. I'll get it someday though! Although my local credit union has a lower percentage rate than they do currently. I'm working on getting that as well.

EQ 654 -- 43 Inquiries
TU 695 -- 54 Inquiries
EX 668 -- 50 Inquiries

Utilization: 9% AAoA: 20 months Total History: 3Y

Re: Barclay Ring Approval Odds

Alrighty I'll give it a shot once I'm off work here in a little bit! And yeah those scores are current as of this morning when I checked them. I just wasn't sure if they would shoot me down for not using my NFL card much at all during my time with them. It just seemed neat when I was first getting into football, but I quickly realized the benefits do nothing for me really, and I would rather have a low interest card. Currently I have 900 dollars reporting on my Citicard but that's it. Had a brake caliper collapse on the car on my way to work one day. But alright I wanted to get some second opinions before I went for it! Thanks!

Re: Barclay Ring Approval Odds

With those scores and low inquiries, you have a really good chance. As for util., Barclay actually likes for people to have util. on at least 2 cards (they use that when determining initial CL)-- said so in one of their Ring blogs). The only thing I see that might hurt you is your lack of use of their other cards... they want you to use the cards you already have with them, so maybe show a little use on your other Barclay cards before app'ing?

Off topic, but I noticed your pic of the Ring in your sig, JustMe. The Ring card I received doesn't have the 4 little curved lines on the right side of the card like the one in your sig. The curves that look like a computer volume signal or something.
