I know theres been discussion on Barclay around here and what they do and do not like etc.
So I thought I'd share some of my experience with them over the last year.
I opened my Rewards Card in Novemeber of 2013.
Starting Cl was 1300. In Feb of 2014, (3 months old) it got a CLI to $2000.
For the most part, especially the 1st 6 months, I let it post at less than 10% then paid it off in full. But used the card alot.
I made 1 BT to the card and paid it off. Then nearly maxed the card out, paying down slowly over the last 5 months. (Yes, letting them charge interest) But just paid it back to 0 a couple weeks ago and its been sitting at 0 last couple weeks.
Today my statement cut. Log in to find a $4000 limit. Yep, a x2 CLI.
So, Im not sure what exactly they look for, but perhaps some of you guys that are more knowledgeable can figure out something based on that useage habit.
Congrats on growing your Barclay Rewards card!
& thanks a bunch for sharing your experience. I'm a brand new Barclay cardholder (US Airways opened Dec 2014), so I've been following other's experiences to get a sense of what to expect.
Ive had mine since October 2014 and have not had any credit line increases. i did a bt and have been using the card heavily and making large payments but so far nothing.
Used mine pretty heavy as well.
I can't figure them out TBH. But Mine was at 3 months and then again at 1 year later.
1 other thing that may be useful for some.
Typically, my statements cut on the 15th of every month.
But when I got a CLIs, the statements appeared to have closed early (the mortning of the 14th) witha CLI already applied.
Not sure why, but thats whats happened to me thus far with them.
So I think, if you are going to get a Auto CLi with Barclay, it'll be the day before or day of statement close.
