Barclay

Hello,

Recently (probably within the past two months) I receieved a pre selected offer for the jetblue card from barclay. Now, I am not the biggest barclay fan, but I am a big jetblue fan so I went for it and was denied, even after recon. Now, today I received another pre selected offer! This one came with a fixed interest rate (not sure if the first did). Now, it just feels like Barclay's is teasing me, but I wanted to get some other opinions on this. It feels like a really bad marketing scheme, but maybe it's not. Anyone have any feedback or similar experiences?

Re: Barclay

They are marketing solicitations which may include the opt-out language as well as anything from a range to a 'set' APR.

What was/were the reason(s) for the denial 2 months ago?

Re: Barclay

I can't remember exactly, but I believe one reason was my average age of accounts. I had one new card that was pulling that age down, but then I cancelled it, so I was hoping for a split second maybe that made them send the offer, but I know in my heart it was a marketing gig, lol

Re: Barclay

Well, even if you cancelled the card, it still won't make much of a dent (at least not for ~10 years) since the closed account still counts toward your AAoA.  As there's not much that would have changed significantly in the past 2 months, I'd pass on the offer since it is likely to yield the same outcome.

Re: Barclay

Agree with Fin.  You're on their radar, just wait about 4 more months and you will probably get it.  Good luck.
