So I just got my new Citi Best Buy card in the mail. (I went to Best Buy with a friend of mine so she could check out the TVs... cut to me buying one with the promotional financing offer instead...) Anyway, I noticed a link for requesting a CLI. I decided to click on it expecting it to be like CLI links for other lenders (including Citi) where you're asked for additional information and are notified whether your credit will be pulled (I wanted to know for future reference whether this card does HP or SP CLIs). Much to my surprise, the next page is a statement thanking me for my request and that they'd get back to me within 7-10 days. I assume that's a denial, but does anyone know whether I just accidentally got a new HP?
Bestbuy is a Citi card and normally will have langiage on the first page. It tells you if your credit report will be pulled or not before requesting one.
Soft Pulls are returned with instant results in my experience. Since you got the 7-10 message, It seems like they did an HP for you.
I did the same thing as OP. I clicked on the "Request CLI" link expecting to come to another page before a submission. I got the 7-10 day message. It was declined. Letter came in the mail a few days later saying the card was not yet eligible for a CLI (it was only 2 months old).
I haven't checked my reports to see if they did a HP but I'm hoping that since it was ineligible for a CLI that they didn't pull at all.
