So I decided to try for a second card cause I wanted the bonus points for the Flagship card and, since I have a tiny bit of history now and Navy has given me everything i have asked for. Have about 45 days on my CC, CLOC, and Auto Loan with them with 1 statement being cut for each.
App'd for Flagship instant denial, reconned and they stated my accounts are too new and to apply again later this year.
No Hard Pull, Looks like a TU Soft Pull or no Pull at all, They tod me exactly what was wrong and what I need to do to fix it. Even though it was a denial I am still happy about it, now to wait for next time bonus points are offered on the Flagship card.
I was able to get my second card with them after I had my first one for about 4 months. You could probably get it after 3 statements if you wanted to try.

That is actually really helpful! I had a similar experience with B of A a couple months back. Got denied for the Merrill+ card w/ the standard "Too Many Inquiries" boilerplate. Called for recon, and she initially told me the same reason, and I explained to her that I knew that was kind of a generic reason and asked if there was anything else. She put me on hold for a couple of min and came back and explained they just wanted to see some more usage history on the new cards I had recently opened. (I had 3 or 4 in the past 6 months) She said that everything else looked good score/history wise and I should reapply in a few months when those accounts had aged a bit. That seemed perfectly reasonable to me, and I thanked her for actually giving me a reason that helped me understand what I needed to do to improve my approval odds. I wish all lenders would do that - it would make life much easier
Wait 3-4 months, then grab paper copies of your reports and check the soft INQs. If NFCU has done a recent one, try applying again. That's what got me my goRewards (2nd NFCU card) approved, then I did the same thing for a SP CLI.
Good luck!
