Re: Beware of the Barclay CLI triple pull..

Thanks evyone. My TU score is 750+ so I’m not sure why they felt the need to dig deeper.  Oh well.. lesson learned with regard to Barclays..

Sorry to hear that. Barclay has only pulled Trans Union for me. Never heard of them pulling anyone else.

Re: Beware of the Barclay CLI triple pull..

There's been a few threads floating around here and other sources citing double and triple HP (CLI) outcomes.

Not typically the norm for Barclays, but it appears their reasoning was correlated to folks circumventing some CRs (i.e. freezing) and taking an overall or deeper look at inquiries + new accounts for those profiles that may deem riskier to their UW criteria ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's still uncertain what triggers a double/triple pull for some profiles versus a single one.

Re: Beware of the Barclay CLI triple pull..

I am not a fan of Barclays. When I was (and to some degree still am ) rebuilding my credit profile - I get the NFL visa from them. 4 years ago it was my highlest SL to date at $1500. Four years later my CL with them on that card is $9K. But now my credit is much healthier and I have much better cards includind CSR and Amex BCP that give me better rewards. The NFL card is something like 1% on everything except NFL crap - then it is 3%? Whatever it is it sucks and because it sucks I never use it. I only keep it open for the AAoA.

So when Barclays introduced the Uber card - I thought now there is a card I could see using. I called them and asked if I could sp a PC from the NFL card to the Uber card. They told me to take a long walk off a short pier. If I wanted the Uber card instead of the NFL card I would have to close the NFL card and apply for the Uber card. So instead of switching me to card that would have gotten them more swipes and activity, I still have the NFL card that sits in a sock drawer somewhere................ just stupid and dont even get me started on HP CLIs - Barclays just does not get it - they could be so much better seemly so easily ...................

It's been known for a long while that Barclays typically doesn't do PCs with the exception of certain for products (e.g. Arrival, Rewards, etc.).  Some within the same family can be upgraded or downgraded, like the Aviator or JetBlue CCs  for instance.  Other lenders have similar PC policies.  It is what it is.

Re: Beware of the Barclay CLI triple pull..

This is terrible. At least it should count as a single inq on just one of the CRAs rather than all 3.

5k+ CLs: Chase Amazon, Cap1 QS1,
10k+ CLs: BofA Cash Rewards, Amex Cash Magnet, Citi DC, Barclays Uber, Citi Premier, Chase Saphire Preff,Cap1 Savor1

Torch bearer of the Bucketeers' Society. Shamefully carrying a bucketed Cap One QS1 with AF & zero chance of a PC.
