BoA Cash Rewards vs. BBR

Why is the Cash Rewards from BoA so hyped up here? 3%gas/2%groceries/1% all is nothing great and a $100 signup bonus is nothing special. So why so much hype? To me, the Better Balance Rewards seems way better. $25 (or $30) cashback quarterly just for doing a few swipes per statement. Only thing that makes sense is to get the Cash Rewards for the $100 spend bonus and PC to BBR. Thoughts?

You can get a rewards bonus if you have enough money with BofA.

Getting a card just for the sign-up bonus, especially with the intent to switch away from it, sounds like abusive behavior to me. A lot of people here don't seem to have a problem with it, among other abuses, though.

First of all, I dunno about you, but $100 is not life changing money to me, not enough to obtain a card that I feel is useless. You openly state that you have no use for the card, and even that the bonus is not exciting, so why waste a HP/AAOA ding etc on this card? Who cares if it's popular or hyped up? If you don't need, you don't need it. Period.

PC to BBR is essentially impossible. I believe BOA policy disallows it for the exact reason you are talking about. People were obtaining bonuses from other cards and then PCing.

If you don't need a card, don't get it. Don't worry about what is popular or hyped up. Nobody else has to justify it except YOU. The CSP for example is super popular, but I have no use for it. I don't apply for it just because others love it. I apply for what works for me.

Re: BoA Cash Rewards vs. BBR

I don't consider any Bank Of America cards being hyped for rewards, other that Better Balance Rewards. And thats Money for Nothing, so why not Take the Money and Run? Sure, its Small Potatoes, but its such a Sweet Deal that you might as well Cash out Your Chips while you can. It won't make you Filthy Rich, but you might as well Bring Home the Bacon and Laugh all the Way to the Bank.

Just remember Theres No Such Thing as a Free Lunch.

Agreed.

And to the people screaming abusive behavior, I see it as maximizing rewards. If I wanted to abuse them I'd get their card, max it out, put it in an envelope and mail it to them, never to talk to them again.

+1

BBR is the way to go if you already have a well established set of rewards cards.

Re: BoA Cash Rewards vs. BBR

If you want the card, apply for it. You don't have to get mad at anyone saying anything about abuse. But there's really no reason to make a thread asking permission to apply or something when you know what you want. If you want it, get it. No reason to ask anyone here.

Anytime you make a thread you're going to get both sides of your question. If you can't handle that, you don't make a thread. Just make your decision, apply or don't, and move on.
