BofA CLI Denial

As the title reads....I was at day 95 so decided to hit the luv button. Got hit with a 7-10 day notice. Received letter today and it read "too many recent accounts opened". Weirdly, I haven't opened any new accounts since my last CLI approval. Oh well, I guess I will let accounts age from 9 months to 12 months and hit the luv button again in April.

Re: BofA CLI Denial

Sorry that your CLI attempt was unsuccessful.  You have to take BofA's reason codes with a grain of salt; "Too many recent accounts opened" actually means that the account on which you were trying to get a CLI was opened to recently to qualify for one.  I've seen several recent datapoints that suggest that new BofA accounts now have to age at least a year before they can get a limit increase.

I'm not sure that is nesccarily true.  My BoA cash rewards cards is about 5 years old.  I got a CLI on the account about 6 months ago from 2,500 > 5,000.  The luv button showed up a few weeks ago, smashed it and was denied.  When I received the letter in the mail the sole reason was "too many accounts recently opened".  So who knows what their "reason" letters actually mean.  Good luck on the next CLI request.

No useful information provided by me. Maybe all the heavy hitters have tapped the well dry with their mega $99,900 limits. We can only request hundred dollar increments now instead of tens of thousands. Smiley Sad

Well, this is my oldest and first account ever, so I think I've had it open for almost 12 years Smiley Wink

Sorry to hear OP.

Do you have any depository/investment accts with them?

Most often than not they deny a lot of CLIs/Apps with some broad even vague  reasons given but simply put, "Not Enough relationship" as the real culprit for the denial.

So I'm guessing the UW on duty that day likely spit his coffee across the room when reading that request?! Smiley Surprised
