CLI Cap1. Take or wait

For fun after putting in PIF payment i hit the luv button. I have only had 2 statements and last week it said account too new. It took to 3rd statement with Qs1 card to get increase.

I was offered 100 increase today. I know a 1000 incease is very common on the $500 sl platinum increase after third statement.

Question is, what is everyones experience? Should i wait it out and see if the common $1000 cli comes in the coming weeks? I think so.

Re: CLI Cap1. Take or wait

if $100 wasnt a typo i would wait, i got a cli on my quicksilver one on credit steps and would have got my increase to 750 after 5 months or six statements or whatever but when i did it they offered me $1,000 increase and when month six came around i didnt get the automatic one

Yeah i'm not sure this is entirely common, it may happen but I do not think it anywhere near a very common experience. Cap One is a strange beast that can't be figured out or nailed down to a certain behavior pattern. Plus with Cap One, like many lenders, CLI's are determined by your profile and that includes spend and pay patterns. With that being said I would probably pass on a $100 CLI, that won't make or break and CL. Are you currently in Credit steps?

Yes, in credit steps.

I did this with my QS1 card too. luv button increase from 300 to 800 after 3rd stmt. increase to 1300 when steps came into play.

My mom who is in the rebuilding process currently completed credit steps with a platinum and got bumped from $500 to $2500 with steady use and PIF each month, she never requested a CLI at the three month mark though. I often wondered if she had requested and accepted a CLI at three months if she would have got such a big jump at the end of her steps. Who knows, but this is Cap One for you, who knows what they base these things off of. I would still pass on the $100 though and shoot for a bigger CLI.

Re: CLI Cap1. Take or wait

i have read they are very crazy at the end of steps sometimes.

I have only read a few ways they do it at 3 month mark though.

Going to let it slide and see what happens after 3rd statement. Thanks!

Re: CLI Cap1. Take or wait

I initially started out at a $500 CL on both my cards and after statement 2 i got a 1k bump. I use the cards quite heavily though so that may have played a role in it. Usually putting about 2k through each month and never letting more than $5 report. I wouldn't not take the $100. For the guy that didn't get his credit steps, Thats the first time I have read about that happening. Have you call CS about that?

I wouldn't necessarily hold out for $1000, but $100 I would decline.

Re: CLI Cap1. Take or wait

Why would they even offer a $100 CLI? Nobody is benefiting.

Re: CLI Cap1. Take or wait

I can't argue with your decision. That would be like not getting one at all.
