CSP Approval

I'm terrible at using the search function but wondered if someone could answer a quick question?

I was just approved for a CSP about 4-5 days ago. Logged onto my Chase account and saw the credit limit was $7,000. I don't have an issue with that, but I plan to shift most of my spending to this card now that my first "double" year with Discover is finished. My limit on that Discover card is $13,500. Have another card (Freedom) with Chase that has a $5,000 limit as well.

Anyhow, I remember reading when I used to browse more often about people requesting increases upon approval if they weren't satisfied with their initial credit limit. Is that something that is recommended immediately if you want to try? Or should I wait until I get the physical card and activate it? I don't really NEED a higher limit as I pay in full every month. But if I'm going to make this my primary card over the next year or for the forseeable future I'd like to have a higher limit if possible.

Also, are there reasons people typically give to the credit analyst when requesting this increase? Or a right way to request it? Thanks in advance for any help!

Re: CSP Approval

You can request but it's a HP and the likelihood of approval is low. I'd just see about taking $3k from your freedom and applying it to your CSP. Or just let it go... if you PIF and use under $7k a month it's not a big deal. If unexpected expenditures come up that you'd float a balance on then that's what other, lower APR cards are for.
