Hello guys.
First a little of information, Fico 8 scores: EX 761 TU 754 EQ 751. No new credit cards or account approvals in the last 2 years and no inquiries or negatives on reports either.
I want to get in at the points and travel game and after reading about the best cards and advices on the forum on how to apply for two Chase cards on one day and only get one hardpull, I finally pulled the trigger and applied for the CSR for all its travel perks and points earning and a couple of minutes after applied for the Chase Freedom for the rotating categories points earning.
I got the dreaded 7 to 10 day message with both applications on the robo lady recording but decided to wait for the letter. When I got the letter, it said to call for identity verification on both cards. I called with the CSR reference number and after a mobile text message verification the operator said congratulations I have been approved for the CSR with healthy credit line 17,900 dollars but when I asked about the Freedom she went to do the same verification process but told me it was sent for account approval again. After waiting two days I called again and was told that that application was denied and should be getting a letter in the mail. I did not go further on the conversation and said thanks and hung up.
I still don’t know the reason for the denial of a lower tier card after getting approved for the hard to get one. I am wondering if I should call reconsiderations line and try to sort thing out or to wait for the letter, so I can have the real reason and have a strategy for reconsideration.
For sure I am out of the 5/24 rule and the 2/30 rule. What strategies could I present? I saw somewhere that you could try transferring credit limit from the approved card to the desired denied card? Any suggestions. Thanks in advance!
Congrats.
I’m speculating but it’s possible you may be at maximum exposure for Chase. You may be able to call the recon line and use some of your CSR line to open a new Freedom card.
I’m a fan of not asking Chase for anything (I consider them a bear) but that’s because I’m 12/24. By comparison, you are low risk. I don’t believe it would hurt you to try.
