Quick question... Next week ill hit 181 days on my BCP and i fully intend to apply for my 3x CLI. But, im also looking to maybe apply for the cash magnet too. Will a new application/approval have any effect on my CLI on my BCP next week? Will i still be able to ask since Im hitting the 181 days?
You can ask, just keep in mind that there is going to be a maxinum amount in aggregate of unsecured credit that AMEX is going to be willing to extend to you . Odds are high that the outcome of the 1st request will impact the outcome of the 2nd request.
Also note that you can only have 1 successful AMEX CLI request every 181 days regardless of the number of their CC you have. If you are successful in both your CLI request and card app the 61 day 3x CLI process on the new card won't be successful.
Thank you @ cold fusion
The BCP and CM are in the same "family" (cash back) of cards so you'll be denied the CM. I was approved for the CM on 6/30 and applied for the BCP a few months later and was denied. My app for BCP was voided and reason given was same "family" of cards.

OP, one way you could get around this: if you have a Charles Schwab account, you could apply for the CS Investor Card, as it has no annual fee and still earns the 1.5% CB (when redeeming into the CS brokerage account). I have both the CS Investor and BCP.

that's so weird, why not name it blue cash magnet or something to make that point obvious. amex is so weird lol
I have the blue cash everyday, I had it for 1 year and was denied CLI, I had only got the small 1k limit. Recently I started to get offers for gold and platinum cards(I in no way need those) but I got the "you are pre-approved" for cash magnet. I applied and got a 2k limit, I then tried a CLI on the blue cash everyday and they doubled my limit....
I'm working on my becoming an Amex guy, though at my heart I'll be a cap1 and discover guy.

@Sub16610 -- this is not necessarily the case for every profile. We've seen folks get approved for both while having one or the other -- profile-dependent. I've had both with no issue and I never received the "family" of cards message. Now, there could be restrictions as far as the SUB goes if AmEx somehow deems any of the applications ineligible for it.
Amex said I can be approved for the card (in the same family) but I won't get the welcome bonus/intro APR. Stupid. Lol

Just as @FinStar said it must be profile specific. So, @Doodlebug30 , did you get the CM?
