Can it be a US Bank Pre-Approval?

I logged into my US Bank portal and saw a pop-up banner suggesting me to apply for a US Bank Smartly Visa. I have never started the application but I did opened the card to read about it few days ago.

I have few products with US Bank including checking and PLOC.

What I wanted to ask is can it be a pre-approval and how reliable it can be?US Bank.pngUS Bank.png

Re: Can it be a US Bank Pre-Approval?

They had tracked your potential interest from having visited the page and this is just a followup encouraging you to apply, it isn't a preapproval.

As @coldfusion  these are not preapprovals pretty much how they roll .

As mentioned just that you showed interest.  With that said Us Bank use to do pre-approvals  years ago and maybe still do.  I know you can check many cards online now as well for pre-approvals and believe smarty is one of them but nothing is 100% guaranteed in life.  Believe if you go online check out more on cc on top their will be a pre-qualify check or something you can run and be a SP.  Not sure of the accuracy of those though.

yeah, as said above, that banner itself doesn't mean anything. But if your velocity isn't unreasonably too high recently, smartly can be approved for as little as $500, highly doubt you wouldn't get approved  the bigger question is if you want to play the games required for 3-4% and what that entails, I've heard their investment wing is ... less than ideal.

I think it's currently not active, the pre-approval tool thing, but I imagine they will bring it back in the future, it's been going up and down.

I did it when Smartly came out and if you are pre-approved and before you submit, you can call in and ask for the limit/apr that the computer generated and I was given $10k/lowest APR which is what I eneded up getting on my Triple Cash application, so IME, seems pretty accurate.

Agree, the pre-approval tool is not available at the moment. I will keep an eye. Thank you.

Re: Can it be a US Bank Pre-Approval?

US Bank is not doing any checking for that notification. However the card is easy enough to get approval for so you can apply without pre-approval and still probably get it. US Bank programmers are very good at hinting at approval.
