Re: Cap 1 Cli

I literally played this scenario out today. Clicked the link for a credit limit increase and was approved for a lousy $100. I talked to a chat rep and he ensured me that it will NOT count against my CLI that they promise after on time payments. So take the increase Smiley Happy

Re: Cap 1 Cli

I took the $100 on Saturday and upgraded as well. Just wait to see what my credit steps will look like.

Re: Cap 1 Cli

Hey Op if you started at 300 you will likely end up around 600 and for 500 my fiancé ended up taking a 100 CLI like you and his Cs increase put him at 1100 total CL after it was done , they definitely are not being very generous with the Credit Steps increases like they were a year or so ago

Re: Cap 1 Cli

I started at $300. I will be surprised if I get more $200 increase. My credit one card has a higher limit lol

Re: Cap 1 Cli

Yes I started at 300 also and my scores are quite higher than my fiancés and he got a 500 SL and when my CS increased I only got 200 CLI when he got 500 CLI , I was very disappointed to say the least

Re: Cap 1 Cli

What are credit steps? How do I enroll my card?

Re: Cap 1 Cli

You don't enroll.  They enroll you automatically and if you are enrolled they'll email you sometime after the first statement cuts, typically.

Type "credit steps" into the searchbar on this site, lots of posts about it.  Endless posts.

Re: Cap 1 Cli

As I mentioned in another thread I attempted an online CLI at the 90-day mark after card approval, and after 3rd statement cut, but got the "we'll let you know in 2-3 business days" notice along with a promise of a letter in 10 days. I understand that generally indicates a denial (though there are exceptions), so I don't know if it's worth my time to try to phone them for a recon. I'm expecting a $500 Credit Steps increase in August/September, but beyond that...I don't know. I might be better advised to concentrate on CLI'ing Discover after the 90/91-day point on that card. I might try another online CLI next month, or then again I might just let it go and concentrate on gardening and getting my overall util down in prep for seeking a Visa in September.

If your utilization is high on any one card, lenders will see this during the SP they do for CLIs.  If your utilization is high on more than one card, they'll REALLY notice.

Don't expect CLI approval if you're abusing your current limits anywhere -- especially on more than one card.

Follow the <9% utilization on one card rule, let it report, then see if CLI luv comes your way.
