My daughter recently turned 18 so I helped her start her credit journey. We checked the pre-qualification sites before she submitted apps. She was approved for the Discover student card without a problem ($1500 SL). She then applied for a Cap1 card. I don't remember which one at this point. Whichever one they said she'd be approved for. Was probably either QS or Savor. She received a message that said they will need more info and would contact her to let her know what it was. She received a letter requesting a copy of the front and back of her driver's license along with her social securiety info. She had to mail that to them. She called about 10 days later and was told that the photo copies were too dark. At that point she gave up.
I'm wondering if this is because she's 18 and didn't have any established credit? I've never heard of this.
A lot of firms are asking for proof of ID now. I had a recent issue where they too said my ID was unreadable. I wasn't going to pursue it. It was related to my business and wasn't that important. But this seems to be the new norm.
I know it seems like a PITA, but I wouldn't give up. It would suck to waste that CapOne triple pull. Just make sure the photos are super clear and try again.

I feel the same way but the photos were clear. And she just went away to college so it's not high on her list of things to do. I told her we'll try for other cards after she's established in 6-12 months.
