When you request a CLI on a Capital One credit card and receive a denial, you receive a standard letter stating denial reason(s) as well as your credit score on file at the time of the request.
Does anyone know which scoring model is used for this provided score? All I see is Source: Equifax Information Services. No where on the page or fine print can I find the word "FICO" used anywhere, nor is any scoring model mentioned near as I can tell.
Those that have investigated this in the past, what's the answer here?
If FICO isn't used in denial letter probably an internal score they use or EQ uses, but FICO can't be used if they aren't using one of their scoring models
The last CLI denial letter I got, the score matched my EQ Fico 8 at the time, though it didnt state that was the scoring model used.

I hadn't considered an internal scoring model, so that's definitely possible. While "FICO" can't be used if the score isn't from a FICO model, no doubt a FICO scoring model could be used and simply not disclosed [as being FICO].

Good to know. While this could be a coincidence, it increases the chances for sure that it's a EQ FICO 8 score. Odd though that they wouldn't state the scoring model, as from what I've seen from other lenders it's almost always disclosed.
All of my Cap1 apps have been Fico8 except for the GM co-brand which appeared to be an internal score.

Just for applications usually...
@SouthJamaicaEQ FICO 5
SJ, are you sure for CLI requests? I see others have said it's only for applications. I know quite a few lenders use a different model/bureau for apps verses account maintenance.
Why would it matter what they use. CO is “brutal” trying to get CLIs, they just make crap up for reasons not to give them.
The time I had Venture I had one cli for 3k, got QS and combined.
You have to get the 3 pulls applying for a new card then combine them to get a real CLI.
