Fair enough - thanks for the quick reply on that.

In that case, I'll get that 40,000 miles to pay for a flight later this year, use the plat to pay off that balance, then figure out what sort of long-term arrangement makes sense. Thanks again for all the insight.

Congratulations on the two new cards!

I hope that these two clauses are referring to separate actions, because if you intend to spend on the Venture to earn the 40k miles, then transfer that open balance to the Platinum Plus, yeah, no, that won't work.

If on the other hand you are going to transfer the other $3k from outside Capital One to the Platinum Plus, yes, that part will work.

Re: Cap One - Plat Prestige?

Hi NRB. Yes, I was talking about using the Venture to get the 40K miles, and using the Plat Prestige to pay off my existing 3K balance that's currently on my DCU card. At that point, I'll then see if I like the Venture enough to start paying for it, or if I should downgrade to VentureOne and pick up the Arrival+ for the long haul.

Starting score 3/30/13: 570s across the board
As of 2/17/18: EX 802 | EQ 809 | TU 811

CSR 34K | Freedom 21K | Marriott 24K | Alaska 21K | Citi Dividend 5.9K | Barclay Rewards MC 15K | DCU Visa 10K | AX SPG 24K | AX PRG NPSL | AX Green NPSL | AX EDP 10K | Cap One Venture 20K | SFCU Visa 15K | Barclay Arrival+ 24K (AU) | BankAmericard 13.5K (AU)
