Cap one plan/Amex denial blessing in disguise

So I posted a thread about 2 weeks ago about approval odds for Amex delta platinum. I was concerned about how quickly my score would update with Amex and I would be able to apply for the delta plat in order to potentially receive the SUB to use for upcoming travel. Original post can be found here:

Anywho, long story short, I App’d two days ago and was denied for too low of score as it still hadn’t updated (almost 6 weeks after last update even though my score had updated with Amex on 3/14.)
So no hard pull as I am a current Amex member but I still wanted to get some travel points so that I can use them for our upcoming trip. I already had a plan in place to spend 3k ASAP for plat so I considered my options.
So I am a current cap one customer as well and decided, what the heck and pulled the trigger on a venture and drum roll please............instant approval for 10k!
Now here is my plan, and this will only likely work for people in a similar situation as me, but I plan to meet my spend with if a few weeks before statement cuts on 4/18, use the points for our trip this summer, enjoy the 0% apr for 1 year, and then use the combine accounts tool from cap one to combine the account with my QS for a nice 12.5k limit and 1.5% cash back on everything and avoid having to incur the AF since it is waved for the first year. Also, if anyone is wondering, I will gather miles all year and then boom next summer’s trip before the combination so I don’t lose my miles. I was really bummed about the plat denial but I’m beyond excited about my new card/plan.

Good plan! However Cap One accounts have to be open a minimum of 6 months and one account at $0 balance. Sounds like you have time to do this.
