Recently tried for a CLI with this card. I've been a cardholer for 2 years now and figured why not, seeing as it is only a soft-pull on my credit. Anyways, I was denied because last month I made a payment to them and the payment was returned. Now, this isn't because I didn't have the funds to pay. Rather, I had just signed up for a new bank account and simply forgot to update my Cap 1 payment information. I guess from their perspective I kind of understand why I would be declined the CLI...It looks like I'm basically bouncing checks. In reality this isn't the case. It was a simple error. Should I call and ask for a recon or just let it go?
From what I've read in the past....perhaps your only solution will be to email the EO. The results are not guaranteed, but it's your closest shot. Good luck!

+1
There's usually no reconning a CLI with Capital One for any reason. Since this is "out of the box" you might be able to get someone at the EO to help, but keeping in mind that technically a payment was 'bounced' I'm not sure how far you'll get.
In any case there's nothing to lose by trying... good luck whatever you decide! ![]()
Thank you both for the input. I did call the EO and explained to the rep that this was a simple human error. He explained to me that there's really nothing they can do...even though it was in error, Cap 1 still looks at it as a flat out returned payment...He said I can try again in 6 months.
Still, I did end up making the payment on time that month after receiving notice I paid from the wrong account.
The funny thing here is that I applied for the Cap 1 VentureOne the next day and I was given the 7-10 day notice. I ended up calling earlier this AM and went through some stuff with the rep, verified my info. I was approved for the card with a CL of $10,000. Sooooo you can approve me for another card with a decent CL, but can't increase my CL on my Quicksilver (which I tried first before even applying for VentureOne)?? Makes no sense, but whatever.
I'm actually kind of pumped I got the VentureOne card coming my way. Started out in mid-2014 with a regular old Orchard Bank card to rebuild my credit, went though paying off a collection last year on a bill I had no knowledge was in collections (it was an old college loan I thought my mom had taken care of for me way back when I was fresh out of school). It's paid, gone, in the past now. I've made some significant strides, so I'm just going to chill out for a bit now, let these new HPs (also got a DiscoverIT card with a $6500 limit) age and go from there. I have all the cards I want and need for the time being. I wasn't even planning on applying for the VentureOne, but I took a shot. Again, definitely going to cool out for a little bit and enjoy what I've been able to work towards thus far.
Thanks again for the advice
EDIT
After my own personal call to the EO, about 30 minutes later I received a call back from another rep in the EO. I told him the situation and he took my information and said he will look into any options I might have for this. He said that a returned payment is usually a bad thing, but noting that this was likely an honest mistake, as I did make the payment once I realized I made the mistake of paying from an old checking account, he will look into the matter and call me back in a few days. At this point, if I get the CLI, great. If not, no big deal.
