Capital One Venture X Not Pre Approved

So I tried getting pre approved for the C1 Venture X. I'm sitting at a 698 with Experian. The reason for the denial was too many recently opened accounts. (0/6 and 2/12 and it goes down to 1/12 at the end of August). Before the reason was too many accounts. I was pre approved for the Savor and Quicksilver. Should I still have a go anyway for the Venture X?

C1 has a preapproval tool. Try that when your newly opened credit falls off the books.

How many accounts do you have?  C1 does tend to prefer fewer total number of accounts.  I was 0/6 and 2/12 when I got my VX, but I didn't have a super thick file (had 4 cards at the time and no other accounts on my reports).  I definitely don't recommend applying without a preapproval. Their tool isn't 100% (no preapproval is), but it's very solid.
