Capital One Walmart DPs?

I've been running searches for some DPs on the Cap One version of this card. I know tons of cardholders were converted from the SYNCB days, but I'm hoping to get some info from the Cap One people too. Starting Limits, CLIs, exposure with Cap One, etc. Any info that you can provide would be appreciated.

I'm asking because I was recently approved but with a small limit of $2k. Same day of approval, I requested a CLI and got denied. Reasons:

- Your Capital One account is too new
- Credit line increases are not available at this time upon request for this type of account

- Credit bureau information is missing or unavailable
- We were unable to obtain your most recent monthly payment data from the credit reporting agency

I could use at least 10x my current limit because I buy for business too. I maxed it out on my first purchase. Then, I paid it off as soon as the charge posted because I need to make more purchases, but they haven't restored my CL. My payment posted 3 days ago and balance was reset to $0, but I can't use it. I even paid with a Cap One checking account hoping it'd clear quicker.

I also have a Savor card with a $41k limit that I don't use that much. I just wish they'd allow moving limits or something. If they restored the ability to combine limits, that'd solve my problem too (after 6 months of being open). Anyway, this is just wishful thinking...

Re: Capital One Walmart DPs?

Have you asked again since?

I'd imagine at least three months of constant heavy use might induce CLI

I've seen a couple reported increases, but those were about $1000.00 CLIs, so I'm not sure that would help you much

Oh no. I just got approved late last week and asked for a CLI the same day. I haven't even got the physical card yet 😁. They added the card to my Walmart account, so I could use it online right away. I did -- all of it but $7. Paid it off, but can't use it again because they won't release my limit. This could take up to a week from experience with other CCs at first.

In my searches, I did see some small CLIs and lots of denials too. It seems like Cap One isn't very generous with this card at this time.

I was wondering about SLs, current limits and highest limits with this card too. It also appeared that most of the highest limits came from being SYNCB cards first. I think someone had a monster $55k limit with SYNCB -- but that's an outlier.

Re: Capital One Walmart DPs?

Sorry I can't help you with the DPs for an original Capital One obtained Wally world CC.

I did request a CLI 90 plus days after Capital One took over.

And was given a $1000 CLI.

Surprising as I've been at max exposure for several years from my QS which sits at $49.5k. Walmart is now $16k. Total Cap One exposure 65.5k across two CCs.

I'll ask for another in a few months and see what happens.

I'm guessing you'll have a pretty high ceiling before you are maxed with them.

It definitely helps, @Gmood1

I'm looking for CLI DPs since that's mostly what I'll need. The other stuff is just for reference to see where people started and how far they got.

From everything I've read so far, unless I missed something, CLIs with Cap One have been pretty stingy. A lot of denials too.

I'm also wondering if my car loans may be affecting my exposure. I got 2 $40k loans from Cap One, but have been paid down to about a third of the original amounts already.

New accounts have come down from where I was a 2 months ago. From 13/24, I'm now at 7/24 or 6/12 on TU and 6/24 or 5/12 on EX and EQ just because Goldman only reports the Apple Card to TU. I'm not counting the biz cards because they don't report, but that would add another 3 accounts.

I'm very tempted to ask DW to apply for it if I can't make this work. She usually comes to the rescue when I can't get something, and she doesn't have more than 2 new accounts in last a couple of years.

https://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-Card-Approvals/Capital-One-Walmart-Citi-Rewards-Amex-Hilton-...

^ got it in early December.

DPs:

FICO: 763 TU, 766 EX, 781 EQ

AoOA: 17y, AoYA: 4mo, AAoA: 3.7y

9/24, 2/12 (or 3 if you count auto loan)

Aggregate UTI: 11%

Inquiries: 4- 8 inquiries

Savor One: $20k limit, opened November 2018, no CLI granted on it.
Platinum: $4.5k limit, opened 2002, sock-drawered for years.

Savor One card was used regularly throughout most of 2019, though not more than about $3k at any time.

Capital One gave me a $1000 increase, SP CLI request, on the Walmart card a month or two or three after I got it (can't remember exactly). Nothing since. I have a feel that it's an auto decline until 6 months since last CLI and good luck even then.

Re: Capital One Walmart DPs?

Thanks for the additional DPs, @Anonymous !

I'm pretty sure I came across your post in my searches. I spent quite a bit of time using the search bar.

Trend seems to be that those who got CLIs were approved for very small increases, which doesn't look very promising -- especially since you're only eligible for an increase every 6 months.

The more I read, the more I regret not getting in with SYNCB. 😔

Re: Capital One Walmart DPs?

Approved capital one walmart rewards world mastercard December 2019. SL 5000. 3 years and a half post bankruptcy 3 inquiries prev to application in past year. My focus are in mid to high 600s. I already had a capital one platinum that changed to a quiksilver and another platinum that changed to a venture one. They were both over a year old. My capital quicksilver is a world mastercard 5500. And capital one venture one is 3500. I also have a bbva and ollo card thats over a year old. I believe I got a 5000 sl due to my good payment history with my other capital one cards.

That's a nice approval with just 3 years post BK. I would've been much happier with a $5k for sure. I've had to cycle my limit twice in less 3 weeks AND wait for week-long payment holds too. Getting annoyed with it, so I'm just using other cards while they take their sweet time to restore my limit after making payments. 5% is nice, but unfortunately, some purchases can't wait.

It's not that I have a poor history with Cap One. Got other products with them: Savor card with a high limit; 2 car loans paid down significantly; checking, savings & kids account. Whenever I call, they tell me everything is system-processed. It almost seems like reps aren't empowered to do anything but take calls and look up info.

Re: Capital One Walmart DPs?

You are right the reps at capital one cannot issue cli only the automated computers do that. I will not ask them for a cli I dont need it. I run about 250 a month or higher if I want to buy something from Walmart.com. I use it mostly for grocery pickup. I hope with time they will give you a higher limit.
