A quick cautionary note for those requesting Socks CLI's. Even though you may have been getting SP increases at scheduled intervals, watch your overall exposure.
On both my GO and Cash+, I've done requests at 7-month intervals and have received SP 5k increases each time, until getting my GO to 25k. I was expecting my Cash+ to finish the final step of going 20 --> 25k, but I just got hit with an HP and pending review notice. I'm very careful with timing and have had my requests on calendar at exactly 7-months, so it's not a too soon thing.
I believe this has to do with my overall exposure with USB, which is currently at $95,000 (GO 25k, Connect 25k, Fidelity 25k, Cash+ 20k). Just a guess, and I don't know if I'll get approved, but the HP took me by surprise.
Thanks for the advice. I've been trying to get the elusive sp. I wasn't aware I needed 6 statements. My 7th is coming up soon when I will attempt it again. If it's any consolation, my exposure is only 5k. Smallest opened cl in years. I understand though, the 6th statement may have had a bearing on it. Time will tell. I've read also, the chance of a hp is not uncommon.
Congrats on your $95K TCL exposure with US Bank @PullingMeSoftly!
Thanks for those data points for the community.
It does sound like the HP might be related to TCL.
Have had my Us Bank Card for 9 months now I think always have my CRA's locked when not plan applying for anything tried a few times and always tries to HP my TU. Limit is 20k which is reasonable, but that is all I have across US Bank so I don't think the HP is in regards to total exposure personally. With that said only used card for sign-up bonus and thrown maybe 400 on the card since then.
I agree that keeping credit reports locked is a good idea and only unlock them if you know you're planning to apply for something and only for the length of time needed to apply. It's just bonus that when you request CLIs from lenders that if you're not eligible for a SP increase you don't also get dinged with an unexpected HP. I'd rather get a "we're sorry" message than a HP I didn't plan for.

My Cash+ card is 18 months old. Ive never gotten a SP CLI despite runing about $1k a month thru it
Just tried again

@Meanmchine, I have plenty of those ^^^^^
My TU is no longer littered with US Bank HP's

Thanks for that data point. That's insane. The spend, your scores, go figure. Wonder if they have a wheel they spin...hp..sp...and see where it lands. Kidding of course. But the hp and sp can be so unpredictable with them.

I use to have US Bank Cash + and same thing. For 2 whole years- no soft pulls. I had eventually unlocked my TU and got a 8k cli so kind of worth it.
