Chase Amazon Prime approval after Chase CO and over 5/24

4 years ago I had some charge offs and settlements. I won’t bore you with the details but I fell on hard times and it happened. Two of the cards were with chase. I’ve since rebuilt my credit from absolute trash to the lower-mid 700s. I’m back with Amex - bonvoy bountless, gold, and cash preferred totaling 15k limits, have a 13k limit USAA card, 13k line of credit at discover, 6k Apple Card. But chase has eluded me. I know they have a long memory but I have really wanted to get back with them. My wife and I spend a fair amount with Amazon but I’m above the 5/24 limit right now so was waiting for that to fall off this summer. However, I’ve read that the Amazon prime card from chase may not have the same 5/24 restrictions so I gave it a shot. It was declined and the reason was “based off past activity with chase”. Not the 5/24. I called the reconsider line and explained to the lady I know I’ve made mistakes in the past but I’ve got a great income now and my credit is good. I told her I’d be happy if even approved with a $500 limit and rebuild the relationship. After some transferring and 20 mins on the phone I got approved for the amazon prime visa. And the limit was exactly what I told her I’d accept. Maybe I shouldn’t have said that… But fact is, I’m back in with chase and I know in time it’ll grow! I’m very happy with the outcome. And clearly this card isn’t restricted by the 5/24 because I have 7/24. It’ll be 3/24 in July of this year.

Congrats on the approval!  I'm sure it will grow with time.  

I was also approved for the Chase Amazon Prime while over 5/24; I don't think that rule applies to the Amazon card.

I'm 100% positive it won't stop an approval now too. I applied a month ago for the United card and was declined due to 5/24 per my call to the recon line. That wasn't even mentioned for this app. 

Thank you. I'm very pleased. I'll just have to be careful with such a low limit that I pay it off after every purchase.

I can't believe they would legit give you such a low limit though.

Do you bank with chase at all?

I know people that bank with chase and have lower to mid 600s that get approved for chase everything it's crazy!

I've heard this card charges interest based on the statement balance... so if that's true keep that in mind.

I have a chase checking account but it's got no money in it. I figure this ridiculously low limit is their way of punishing me for burning them in the past. Hopefully they raise the limit in the future and it opens more doors. If it doesn't grow it won't be useful at all. Yeah I read that too about the unpaid balance. My SOP now is to basiclly use my cards then pay them off almost immediately. I'm just after the rewards!

First congratulations. Second some questions. Did the offer pop up or did you plug in the credit request?  Do you have a banking  relationship with Chase and or investments with JP Morgan? 

I burned a predecessor to Chase and it took years to get back in. I did open up a checking/savings account with direct deposit with Chase about a year and a half before applying for my first CC from Chase. Slowly, I was approved for FU and SW. Finally, Amazon approval.

@Jermungus  AHH!!! That's why you got the low limit!!

I used to exclusively bank with Chase and one time I applied for a Slate card after having just paid off the balance on a closed Platinum card (it was from 2009 LOL) and when I called to recon, the lady was like "you have no money in your account with us"..They can see your banking account balance(s) with them!

I was like yeah I just paid off in full a card with you you dumb lady lol....anyway, that's why you got the 500 CL! LOL!!! but hey hopefully, the algorithm likes the way you use the card and youll get CLIs. with chase its a couple ways.. either Auto Cli starting after the 3rd month or fourth statement (IIRC) or you can self initiate a HP CLI.
