Chase BL Rollercoaster

Let's just kick it off by saying I'm on the Chase BL since about 2010.  I've tried a couple of apps the past few years and was denied.

My fresh rollercoaster ride began a couple of weeks ago when I applied for the Chase IHG card.  Citi just this month let me off their BL with a nice approval on a Hilton Hhonors card.  My CO with Citi was almost identical with Chase so I thought, what the hell, let's give it a shot.  My reports are about 5-6 months form being completely clean (everything dates back to 2010).

When I submitted the application for the IHG, it immediately went pending and the automated line said 7-10 days.  I was actually pretty happy that it wasn't a straight denial but I always expected to have to recon to get back in with Chase.  Yesterday, I got the letter in the mail with the rejection.  Chase's internal score for me was 772 and their reason for denial was prior relationship.

I called in to recon this morning and had a good conversation with the analyst.  He gathered info about the prior delinquency, hopped off the line for a few minutes, came back for more info about my work and other accounts (I have a lot of new accounts), put me on hold again, came back and asked what kind of limit I was seekeing and would I consider something lower than what I have on other cards (I told him I'd like $5k, but $1k or anything would be fine so I could build the relationship), put me on hold and for the final time came back with a few more questions.  He then said said it needed further review but he was recommending approval.  Yay!

I called in to the automated status line and the message changed from 7-10 days to 2 weeks.  I was thinking I'm going to get approved!

It's been a couple of hours so I called in again and...the message changed back to 7-10 days.  I'm thinking that means someone reviewed the application and rejected it.  I'm not going to call in again but **bleep**, I was really feeling like I was back in.  Will just wait for the letter and see what happens in a week or two I guess.

You may still be approved, the message changing doesn't always mean one thing or another. Don't read too much into that, although easier said than done I know, although I can't say for sure, I do wish you the best of luck.

Re: Chase BL Rollercoaster

From reading these CHASE threads, it seems to me that there seems to be more folks getting the "7-10" message !

After getting a pre-equal for the Freedom and CSP ,  I app'd on Saturday only to get it as well .  Done another pre-equal yesterday just to see what I might look like after loosing 3 points with TU and EX .  CHASE now pre-equals  with..Freedom ,  Freedom Unlimited ,  Slate and the CSP .

Called the status line this morning and got the robo: " We are still reviewing your application ,  you should hear from us within 7-10 days" !

Several have posted about getting stuck with this application message ,  just not sure what's going on, if they're tighten up or what !

Thanks, I'm still hoping for the best.  I'm not going to do anything to rock the boat, and will just wait to see what happens.
