@Anonymous wrote:What is shady as that all of a sudden, the OP applies for 7 cards within a space of 13 months, uses all 7 every month, and pays them all off early, most likely multiple times per month. That kind of activity is irregular, that's probably why Chase cut them off. Chase will never admit the real reason, even Chase's decision is an opinion. I'm not agreeing with Chase, I'm just answering the question to the OP why they got their account closed. Plus we don't even know how many inquiries the OP got. They probably got lots of inquiries for credit denied.
Paying after the statement doesn't cause you to incur interest as long as you make the payment on time. This is how most people pay their bill, by waiting for the bill to arrive, and then paying in full before the due date.
People pay their balances before the statement cut off date to keep their utilization ratio down for optimum scoring.

Getting credit cards and using all of them is not shady nor is paying before the statement post. Of course John Q Public has different views and use of credit then most of us here but most of the general public are unaware of things we end up learning here , things that could actually help their credit profile.
I personally have started to pay my credit cards earliest as possible after it posts so as to help me control my debt. I use to carry balances as being in the normal world, i didnt realize how much interest i was paying doing this. Sure 7 cards , in 12 months, might seem to be risky, but there are plenty of reasons for people to multiple cards in a year. Just mho
In my travels as has been mentioned, it seems the folks on the street are pretty much not interested or really up on the credit world. In fact, those I have held conversations with don't care! OK! As to not paying your balances before the statement close, why not? How is this "shady"? For myself I do not want debt and I pretty much use my credit cards like debit cards with all the protections on my purchases that credit cards can give (don't need the hassle with banks and Debit Cards where the protections are few and in some cases virtually non-existent). Lived a long time and a lot of life ... my methods have kept my FICO and Vantage Scores well into the 800's for years so I would say my methods work! ![]()

Definently call the number. There have been reports back in May that folks would have their accounts closed or the same reasons as yours but had them restored when they called.

I've just tried the number...twice, and both reps said they couldn't do anything with my account.

Found another couple of backdoor numbers for Chase Recon: 888-245-0625 or 888-270-2127. Suspect large lenders change telephone numbers as often as I change clothes but hey, ... "nothing ventured nothing gained"? The whole thing is most unfortunate! Both numbers could be yesterday's news but, you want to overcome this situation.

I didn't "call you out" for having no credit. I called you out for having click bait in your thread title. You failed to support your argument that living cash only caused your AA.
Blaming Dave Ramsey when he has NOTHING to do with your story.
The "call you out" was directed at the rep who told me that being a 46 year old who went 15+ years was the reason (or one of the reason) why they closed my account. The reason I went those 15+ years without credit was because I was living according to things I learned from Dave Ramsey. You think I'm blaming DR. No, I'm just posting in a thread what a Chase rep told me.
I'll accept it's a little click baity and maybe isn't the primary reason why my account was closed. But I felt it was such a rare/bizarre excuse that it warranted a rant/thread.
Why was your account closed? Or I declared BK. Sounds normal.
Oh, why was your account closed? Oh, I went a decade plus living debt-free and decided to get some credit cards late in life and after getting a credit card and using it for three months like I thought I was suppose to they up and closed it. Hmm, sounds a little out there too me.

Thanks for the "going the extra mile" effort/assistance. The first number is no longer in service (they said call customer service # on card) and the second said they were for "new cards" and unable to help me with my situation, directing me to customer service.
Chase has been removing recon numbers or changing them because every time a new one is discovered by the financial bloggers and forums, it gets slammed with requests and demands. So they change the number and it becomes trickier to discover.

I keep getting told to call this number 1-800-290-1316. This was who I talked to that gave me the info that sparked this thread/rant.
IF I were to post my true feelings towards Dave Ramsey and his blind zombie followers I would likely get banned here. OP I am sorry to what happened and while it does feel ridiculous it is a side effect of those who follow the Ramsey way.
So give a big F U to Ramsey and continue on with your journey.
