Chase Freedom Flex in Branch

Thinking of picking up the Chase Freedom Flex in branch since I'm 5/24 until next July (assuming I don't get anything else in the meantime).

Do you think I've got a shot to sneak in a CFF? My scores are well north of 700 so that isn't a factor. But I just have to wonder if Chase will "loosen up" to move a new product like the CFF when its hot off the pressses.

Re: Chase Freedom Flex in Branch

In branch doesn't bypass 5/24 unless it's pre-approval

If you have a pre-approval for or have  Freedoms or Sapphires you could just get those and PC it.

You just picked up a handful of LOCs, those are revolvers, ya know?

Re: Chase Freedom Flex in Branch

Well when I picked up my Hyatt card I was 6/24 having added Disco, CFU, CF, CSP, a LOC and a Store Card and they gave it to me without preapproval online when I applied online.

Now I am 6/24 with Disco, CFU, CF, CSP, Hyatt and AMEX Green. I haven't closed on those LOC's yet (though I'm taking the day off to do that today). Where is the harm in trying to see if I can slip in a CFF? I have around 25 HPs with a vantage score that averages 805. When I picked up the Hyatt the approval letter came back and my score was so high they didn't even bother to list it. My vantage TU score is 814 while reporting a LOC with 94% utilization.

I first called Chase branches to see whether I could apply in branch for the Hyatt. They said no so I gave it a shot in the dark online and to my great surprise I was approved for it. But the CFF I can give it the old in-branch go if I wanted too. I did that for my CSP back when my credit was lower than 700 and I didn't have any online approvals.

Nice job slipping in with the Hyatt. I tested the waters for the Hyatt card myself last December and was denied for too many accounts. I was 6/24 at the time, but I did pick up 3 new CCs 4 months prior in August (Disco, Amex HH and PSECU). I wasn't worried about the HP and wanted to see if there was any flex with co-branded cards.

What makes you believe this card can sneak in past the 5/24 rule?

I think the best thing to do is check for preapprovals. In-branch preapprovals are the best, but the others bypass 5/24 too.

Re: Chase Freedom Flex in Branch

5/24 is (at least presumably) hard coded into the application approval algorithim. Chase does not manually review every single application. If you are above 5/24 and have no preapproval, you are almost always denied. I don't see why a new product would be any different.

Re: Chase Freedom Flex in Branch

If the 6th card hasn't started reporting yet you can slip in an approval.

If I PC my Chase Freedom card I miss out on the opportunity to double dip with both a CFU and a CFF.

Think about Q4. During Christmas break I decide to schedule a trip to Puerto Rico. The total cost is $2500. Use Pay Pal Key to buy it through a online travel agency. If you have both the CFU and CFF you could split it up and earn $12500 points ($2500 x 5). Its a way to double your rotator spend if you have both of them.

Nothing I've picked up has reported yet so it gives me a fighting chance at the CFF in branch. 6/24. 4/12. 2/6. If I don't get it there is nothing to lose as I am already at 12 HPs with Experian.

Re: Chase Freedom Flex in Branch

Doesn't Chase do an account review after a month or two just for these types of cases? If you're already at 6/24 the Flex would put you at 7/24 and good chances of getting it revoked after a month I'd say.
