No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
If the difference in your scores is attributable only to hard pulls and new accounts reporting, that suggests your credit profile is quite young and thin. So its even more important to space your applications to give your scores time to recover, and not bombard one creditor so frequently.

No there’s no derogatories, it’s because of the hard pulls. No late payments in the past 24 months. I only have a balance of $883 on my Citibank, leaving my utilization in 7%. But I get your point. Thanks.

The frequent applications are creating a snowball effect of more rejections and lenders perceive them negatively as "credit seeking behavior."
The second thing that stands out is that your approval for the CSP in 02/18 is for the minimum credit limit of $5,000. That suggests that Chase has extended as much credit to you as they can at this time; primarily because of the newness of your accounts. Its unlikely they'll approve another card when you've only had the CSP for 4 months. And after that you opened a Discover card; Chase is especially sensitive to accounts opened so shortly after opening one with them. Consider yourself fortunate that they did not shut down your CSP.
Exactly this. Cool your jets for a while, and don't app anything until after Christmas. Then you can app the freedom. Only app the freedom though. If approved give it some time to age before you think about adding anything else.
@pip3man wrote:You are basically the reason why you’re being denied. Chase revised their policy so that card members can’t have more than one product in the same product line. That basically means if you have a Freedom, you will be denied if you applied for the Freedom Unlimited. Same goes to the Marriott and Sapphire cards. In order for u to get the Freedom you will need to close the FU, wait 30 days then reapply provided everything else on ur credit profile checks out..
As others have said, this is not true! Mister-Endowed, can you edit this in case the post is picked up in a google (etc) search.....

I don't think there's anything wrong or misleading with my comment. It's been well established you cant get a CSP and CSR if you already own one. As for the Marriott cards, I got this information first-hand from the Chase Executive line when I called few days ago to cancel my Marriott Premier card. The agent offered to upgrade me to the Premier Plus and then remarked that I wouldnt be able to get the SUB if I accepted the offer. So I asked about just keeping the Premier open and applying for the Premier Plus which she advised the application would be declined because I already have the Premier card and the Premier Plus are in the same product line. Then she said the only way I could get the bonus would be to close out the Premier, wait 30 days and then apply for the Premier Plus. If in doubt or to verify, someone else can hit them up about this and see what answer they get.
