So I recently applied for the Chase Freedom Unlimited online, for which I wasn't immediately approved. Today in my mail, I got a letter asking me to provide income verification. Is there any particular reason why my self-declared income wasn't enough? Also is that a good sign or just an incomplete application

Well, I have recieved a CapitalOne and Discover credit card but have never been required to submit a proof of income. Just curious about when and why credtors request it
I’ve been applying for a few Chase cards recently, and it looks like Chase will pull your TALX employment data report for every card application. My guess is that if they can’t pull that report, or the income you self report is very different from the income listed on the report, they’ll send you a letter for more verification documents.
I could be totally wrong though, that’s just my guess.

From my understanding any bank can request income documentation if your new opening an account as stated in the terms when you apply for credit some infact will request such documentation hope this helps. ![]()
