I have unfrozen my Experian, TransUnion and Equifax, applied today for pre approval Chase offers but the response asked to unfreeze my TransUnion, which I did this morning, called TransUnion and they informed me it is unfrozen at their end. What the hell is going on. How many days I have to wait to apply again.
It's a regulatory requirement that if your request is made either online or by phone the freeze must be thawed within 1 hour. If the request is made in writing they have 3 business days.
Freezing and unfreezing your report isn’t instantaneous. There’s a little processing time.
It's been doing this for me when I check on the Amazon Card after I unfroze it the other day. People say it needs time but other companies that I had to unfreeze it for was able to access TransUnion 5 minutes after I did.
@ChameleonBob and @AyaMai - I've experienced this, too. Different banks, different systems, is what I chalk it up to. Some are instantaneous, whereas Chase and U.S. Bank - for me - haven't been and take a little wait time to see if you're pre-qualified. So, I'd say unfreeze, wait, and try again... not sure how long to wait, but I've given it an hour before and it worked great. Where when I've unfroze and don't it minutes after with those two banks, it told me it was still frozen. Good luck and YMMV, as they say.
for me 99% of the time, it has been instantaneous. I think its dependent on the creditors' policies. I've had issues with Penfed before.
