Hey everyone! I have been eyeing on the Chase Sapphire Reserve for some time and have plans for travelling this June. I was wondering if my profile will support this card:
Estimated income~$50k
Discover FicoScore 764
2 or 3 inquiries in the last 12 months (depending on whichever one was pulled)
I have no debt, no active or past loans, no derogatory marks, and 100% payment on all cards so far. I don't have any banking relationship with Chase so am not able to check pre-qual page. It is also not possible to open an account with Chase due to my location restriction. I have also signed up for chase credit journey months ago.
I know Chase doesn't like thin profiles and authroized user cards, so I expect my Bank of America card to be a non-factor. I'm hesitating on whether to pull the trigger or not and need advice!

- Citibank: 8 months, $3500 limit
- CapitalOne Quicksilver: 7 months, $10k limit

It would be very borderline because of your short credit history. They probably want to see more experience with a $10k credit card before giving you another one. Personally if I were you I’d wait 6 months to try but as I always say a HP or two isn’t the end of the world so if you tried and were declined, the effects on your credit profile are minimal and you could still try again in 6 months. Additionally it wouldn’t absolutely shock me if you were approved as banks are hard to understand at times.
Since sign up bonus same maybe do the CSP then PC to CSR when you get card limits to 10,000? Have you checked pre approval site?
Irish had a good point about revolving history, chase one year revolving history pretty much their minimum for getting a card. Another option would be try one of the freedoms then try in 6 months. As long as your under 5/24
You don't need to have a banking relationship with Chase to check if you're prequalified for any of their credit cards: https://www.chase.com/prequalified

I have tried the pre-qual page one a month throughout the last 12 months and got nothing every time. I have also tried applying for the freedom 6 months ago, but was denied. After that, I didn't try for CSP.
Maybe I'll hope for Discover to give me a CLI in 2 months to bring the card over $10k...
You can get one CLI per month with Discover simply by asking for it instead of waiting for an auto-CLI. Just log in to your account, and go to Manage > Credit Line Increase and fill in the requested information. You will get a soft pull CLI unless they advise you that they need to do a hard pull . If the proposed CLI is not to your liking, you can decline it too.
Most likely you aren't getting preapprovals from Chase because you do not yet meet their pre-screen criteria; especially with your AAoA not quite yet a year old.

Oh I didn't know that! Discover gave me an auto CLI last month from $6000 to $9700 last month. Also in response to waiting 6 months, I didn't want to wait because I am for sure going to have a big travel spend at the end of june. Perhaps the best route to go is maybe try for CSP then product change to CSR later. I don't know what to do! Basically I wanted to maximize my benefits for this upcoming trip.
I'm simply curious; are you at least 21 years old?

Yes! In fact, I am about to graduate university!
