Chase Sapphire Strategy need

Apparently, I can only have one Saphire card with Chase. I have Reserved now and just applied for Preferred and got declined due to already have the Reserved card. I talked to the rep and she said no inquiry has been pulled, is that true?

So what my strategy be like? I want to get rid of my Reserved and replace it with Preferred, can I change my Reserved to Freedom Unlimited, then apply for Preferred and get the welcome bonus? My reserved was applied like 4 years ago.

Is your goal to get the SUB or just the CSP?

You will be eligible for a SUB 48 months after the last Sapphire SUB you got.

Also if you go the PC and new card route I would wait a few weeks after the PC so that their computers are updated so you don't get the same auto denial you just experienced

Re: Chase Sapphire Strategy need

I want the SUB and the CSP. My question is can I PC my CSR to freedom then wait a few weeks and apply for CSP and qualify for SUB or not? I'm qualified for the 48 months mark already because my CSR was done like 4 years ago. But I don't know if PC to freedom resets the clock?

It's one Sapphire bonus every 48 months so as long as you earned your bonus 48+ months ago, you are eligble again. Remember, it's when you earned the bonus, not when you opened the card.

Yes so I looked and I earned bonus March 2016. So can I PC my CSR to freedom then apply for CSP to get the SUB?

A couple weeks after you PC your CSR, you should qualify for the CSP SUB.

Re: Chase Sapphire Strategy need

Thank you. Follow up questions, if I do PC, I won't have any more cards to transfer UR points to loyalty programs, will I lose my UR points? Worst case, If I don't get approved for CSP, will I lose my points or not?

No problem. If you PC to the Freedom Unlimited, your UR points balance would transfer over with it. The Freedom Unlimited also earns UR points. You just can't transfer to a partner or get the travel portal bonus.

Re: Chase Sapphire Strategy need

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm still a noob around here. Is there any reason why you can't just follow a downgrade path, to move from the reserve to the preferred? Will they not give you the sub if you do it that way? Thanks for answering.
