Hi everyone!
It's Tuesday! I'm supposed to be gardening, but I received an email promotion for the United MileagePlus Explorer Visa card.
Offer is 50K bonus miles after $2K spend PLUS 5K bonus with first AU.
I suppose I received this offer after recently flying United and signing up for their loyalty program. I accrued 4K miles. wow! lol....
Anyway, I wonder if I should pull the trigger on this and combine the HP with let's say, the Disney Visa card?
I don't NEED the cards, but they would be useful for future items.
A) I'm going to Walt Disney World in late September. (I'd probably spend enough for the statement credit?)
B) I'm hoping to plan a Euro trip in 2016. (mileage comes in handy)
C) Perks of both cards, specifically the United's Visa.
Fico 08 Exp score floating around 680-690, 7 INQ, 8 new accounts since May. Total reported CL: $65K, AAoA <2 years. Util 11%
Also, most tradelines are 5K and 10K.
Chase denial from Dec. 2013 on one of those INQs.
Any input or suggestions, greatly appreciated.
Cheers!
Bump!
My 8th new account since May just posted as of this morning on EXP. Doh!
Good idea, bad idea? Should I wait until after my car purchase in Feb 2016?

February isn't really that far off, credit wise, and you have a lot of new accounts. IMO, I'd pick one or the other, either the United or Disney. Apply and then chill with the apps for awhile so you can get a better rate on the car loan, which is more important than a credit card, at least in my opinion.
Better to not apply for anything, but I know that's not the answer you want so at least keep it to one app.
@ kdm31091
Thank you for the reply and input. You have a good point on both sides. I travel extensively through the summer, so maybe the United mileage would be the one. I dunno, my rational side says MAYBE to united and EH to Disney (although I want one of the new Star Wars designed cards lol)
I'll let it sit for a minute and decide. I dont want it to go past today to apply, to give a solid 6 months of payment history/maturity.
Mahalo.
I chose not to pursue the application(s) for the accounts. It made more financial sense to let my new accounts age in hopes of getting a super low APR when the big purchase comes in early 2016.
Closing thread.
Thanks.

To me, that's the right decision. The cards aren't going anywhere. Good luck!
Good for you! I agreed with kdm too. Best of luck on your auto purchase!!!

Which cards do you have already?
Do you have a Capital One?
If not, you might reconsider the United card. It's no FTF, which will come in handy in europe. The 50k miles offer isn't around all the time, so the emailer is something to consider.

But it's probably more important for OP to worry about gardening, aging inquiries, increasing AAOA, and most of all getting a good rate on that auto loan. Most auto loans place less weight on inquiries if they are older than 6 months. February is 6 months from now, barely, so OP should definitely be stopping with apps (IMO).
OP seems to know deep down that they should wait. The united bonus would be nice, but they will be paying the auto loan month after month after month.
