Hi guys I applied for Chase Freedom Thursday when I became 4/24.
I got the "we received your application" email.
I called back the next day, rep confirmed some detail, said it was cleared and she will send it off to UW.
Saturday, I received an email saying it was denied due to "too many requests for credit or accounts with us"
naturalky I called the recon line, rep says it's stuck in fraud Dept. I'll have to call back on weekday. I ask her how could it be stuck in fraud Dept if I've received a letter of denial already? She says it is there and she really doesn't know.
does this make sense?
I did get approved for Chase Ink two days ago but business card shouldn't have any impact.
HP on Equifax (due to business pull and freedom is now at 8-
1 jpmc back in October 2019
1 Charles Schwab back in May 2019
1 Barclay in Jan 2019
3 HP for auto loan shopping on same day December 2018
does Chase Reps statement make sense?

As the letter stated, it was declined due to too many requests for credit, not fraud. I think fraud entered the equation because you had applied for quite a few cards in a short period of time.
Good luck
Update:
so I was not happy with the first rep. I did the hang up and call again.
this time I got a better rep. She walked me through, looked at it and got a senior guy on the phone.
he told me it was because I had just gotten a chase ink a couple days ago.
* EVERYTHING I READ HERE TOLD ME BUSINESS APP AND PERSONAL APP was considered differently.
when I mentioned above he said "no sir we look across the entire chase spectrum. Wether it's business or not."
I kindly ask the gentleman if there is anything I can do since I love chase products and want to give them the business.
meh conducts a manual review, hold for a few min, comes back asks some security questions, hold for a few min, goes over my credit report asking about each cards and asks why I have balance on 5 of my 13 cards.(why does this matter? My utilization is at 7% 🤷🏻♂️ And it's on 5! Out of 13!! I have 7 with ZERO balance )
I tell him:
two are my airline cards I use for miles for Delta and AA,
one is my sofa,
1 is my 0% apr balance transfer card,
1 is my amazon prime I buy household stuff other is my CSR that I use for travel and dining.
he goes "oh ok that works" I hold for a few more minutes. He comes back and was like "ok I did my review and submitted my approval on my end and will send to UW for final approval, you will get a letter in 7-10 days."
this is the weirdest application process ever for me and generally, I thought senior guy did the final approval.
yout thoughts?

Wow, you are persistent, I will give you that. 😁 My first question though--since Chase loves to HP, are they pulling every time you ask for a review? I seriously hope not because I count 3.
Second, individual aggregate counts just as much as total aggregate--that's why it matters and that's why you hear the AZEO method a lot, and especially prior to applying for additional credit. Lenders do not want to see a balance on many CCs.
Finally, I hate that 7-10 day letter. So, again, I think it's a decline but I wish you luck.
Update: recon successful for $12.5K CL at 16.59APR after intro👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 Persistence pays off
Chase only HP-ed me for the original inquiry.
so I have 1 for chase ink (approved) and now another one for very next day for Freedom.
which is also approved, phew.
