Chase freedom

I applied for the chase freedom card and said it's being reviewed and within 7-10 days a decision. Is it already denied? I tried calling the general customer service number and she said the same thing and that they review all applications and can take up to 30 days. Is there a different number I should call? I've never waited for a decision every card I have would just tell me on the phone.

Not unusual. Just hang tight. If you supplied your email, sometimes you get a link to check the status.

Re: Chase freedom

I called lending and they said it was denied because I am at 5 cards for 24 months. Do you think recon would work? I know that's their rule but I'm at 5 not like 8 or 9. Think it's worth a shot? Or just let it go?

Re: Chase freedom

The rule is 5, not above 5. Those that still get the approval seemed to have been preapproved in branch first. They are very strick on this rule . I am not even bothering to do any chase apps until I'm sure I am past 5/24. U can try to recon. I don't know that it will work. I haven't had to try it. I saw a thread once where a recon was successful, but I think it was because they were AU's on some other cards and not the acct holder. Perhaps some others can chime in that have been denied for this reason.

Re: Chase freedom

Didn't realize you were at 5/24.. I'll second everything Roodog posted. Won't hurt anything to try a Recon, but don't hold your breath.

Re: Chase freedom

Unless you're pre approved in branch or are CPC, you're not going to get past the 5/24 rule.

Re: Chase freedom

What is CPC?

If you are at or above 5/24 and receive pre-qualified offers at the Chase site, will you still get denied upon applying?  I've been told that if you are at or above 5/24 and receive pre-quals on their site that you may get around the 5/24 "rule" as some have reported approvals.

Re: Chase freedom

I've read of a few still getting the slate, but getting preapproval with Chase seems to be key when over 5/24, even though not all are getting past it even with that.

Re: Chase freedom

Agreed. I'm also preapproved for the CSP but I don't need it. I wouldn't make the spend.
