Hi all,
Does anyone have any experience receiving Chase preapprovals after having paid down a large debt on one of Chase's credit lines?
For the last year, I've been making minimum monthly payments on a $2,400 balance on my Freedom Unlimited, where my limit is $2,500. It's been nice to park my debt there since the card offers 0% interest for the first 15 months. But thanks to a bonus check coming this month, I'll soon be paying off that debt in full. I pay my other 11 credit cards in full each month, including my only other Chase card, which is the IHG.
My hope is that paying off the card in full will trigger a pre-approval for the Chase Saphire Preferred or one of the Southwest cards. I'm at 10/24 so the only way I stand a chance is with an automated online preapproval or a preapproval in branch. I also have a checking account with Chase. My FICO 8 score is 705. Has anyone else received a Chase preapproval after wiping out a significant balance with the same bank? Or does anyone have any thoughts on whether this is actually a plausible scenario or wishful thinking? Thanks!
