Hi all!
So a few days ago I applied for Chase United (I'm unnder 5/24, 720 score), and I recieved the 7-10 message when I called in. I was like oh noo because I know what that message mostly means! So I took my chances and called hte recon line - the woman put me on hold to "reevaluate" she said... honestly I thought she was just letting me on because she felt bad lol... so she came back on and said "I looked at your application and credit report again but this has to go through our fraud / verfication team, so you have to call back tomorrow when they're open," and gave me their number. So I will have to call them tomorrow... but my question is, when I checked my status again, the message changed from 7-10 days to "2 weeks" - I have so much anxiety and don't know if this is a good sign or not haha... has anyone else experienced this and if so what was your outcome?? Thank you!!
IME if the application went to the fraud/verification team then that's a good thing. Might be where they just need to send a text verifying it was you that submitted the app and not someone else. From there it may just be a pending approval. At the very least it was not an immediate denial and the fact that it changed status to two weeks is good as well
Keep your spirits and call them during business hours tomorrow. As a heads up be prepared to wait awhile if they are busy. Heard wait times can sometimes be an hour or longer. I would just put the call on speakerphone and mute the mic til you get an agent on the phone
I also think this is a good sign. I had to get transferred to the verification department (800) 278-8830 for my Freedom Flex approval as the last step in my recon.
Good luck!
As you discovered, a Chase 7-10 designation can also mean the application was flagged as needing some kind of additional verification, often to just confirm that it was really you that applied.
2 weeks effectively means a conditional approval and while occasionally an application that gets to that stage ends up being denied it almost always leads to an approval.
Thank you all for your responses.
So I called the number today, and the representative said "the application is still pending so we can't verify anything until it's processed but it's line to be reviewed." I thought it was odd that I was directed to call the fraud number when nothing was going to be done at that point... is that normal? I never did a recon with Chase before so I'm not sure.

It depends where the application was in queue. So, pretty standard. I would give it a few days. At least you have their # handy in the event you need to follow up sometime this week (if you hadn't heard of any updates).
Sounds to me like you are implementing the backup plan before your main plan has failed. Before you go bananas with recon you need to wait for your application to be processed and a denial letter to be issued. Essentially your carriage is in front of the horse. Chase will contact you if they need something. Anyway any status other than denial is positive.
