I somehow lost access to my other account, ironic as I'm a CS major and keep all my account access securely store in a vault. Anyway... I have a new profile and starting from scratch.
Yesterday I celebrated my first year of having a credit file - as I opened my first CC a Discover IT Student on Dec 1, 2015. Right now it has a $1750 CL with only an auto CLI in June. In late August, I got a Freedom Unlimited, which has a $3000 CLI.
I wanted to apply for the Citi AA Platinum next week - I'm a relatively frequent AA flier, holding AA elite status and wanted to take the advantage (no pun intended) of earning AA miles. I know the earning ratio sucks, but oh well... I also considered the Executive, but was hesitant about the annual fee, and higher spend for same miles - and I thought I did not have any chance at it.
My score is in the low 700's across all bureaus, 15-20% util, no baddies or loans or missed payments (PIF each month), 2 CC's and $4750 total CL. Income is $45k
4-6 inq depending on credit agency. I also have an appliance lease for my apt showing as an Other Loan.
I've been a Citi banking customer for 4 years and keep most of my savings there, although I have a friend who works as a banker for Citi and told me that banking relationship does not count when applying for CC's.
Does the credit history length start at the 1st of the month? If so, I should have 12 months of history now.
What do you guys think? Do I have a chance at the Citi AA? Should I attempt the Executive?
I'd say you're in pretty good shape. Do note that Citi is a very conservative lender and they do not like inquiries or new accounts. I don't think one new account and 4-6 inquiries is going to startle them but I also have absolutely no factual basis for that conclusion. Take my words with a grain of salt.

Let us know how you make out ...
I love my Citi AA card. At first I was not sure ... but they have a wonderful website, app and just recently I got 0% on anything for 8 months. I was not expecting it...
I once emailed the EO and when I did not get a response I emailed the EO again. I had a wonderful woman call me back. I would try to pose your questions in the form of an email to the EO office.
I ended up doing something different. A friend of mine persuaded me to get the SPG Amex instead; as they're worth more and I also hold elite status there. I was instantly approved for $6k (my first instant approval, and my first AMEX!)
So I now have an Amex instead of the Citi AA

Congratulations... I have an BCE Blue Cash Everday with American Express. I have not had it long. But I am excited.
I did not get that kind of approval amount. But remember to read about the AMEX 3X and you can triple your line in 61 days.
But don't do it too soon. So be sure to read up on it. Make that puppy grow.
Well, this weekend took another interesting turn. Check my post in Approvals to see how it ended up
