I've had the Citi DC for almost three years. Every six months I get a sp CLI. Always an instant approval. For the first time since I've had this card they didn't approve me on my most recent request.
This was their reasoning...
Is this normal?
My starting limit was $3000 and my current limit is $10,500
I have the Simplicity card and also started getting this message as of August last year (got the card in 2014).
I was still trying every 30 days to see if anything changes but they want to do a HP.
Ironically after my last attempt in Jan, I still refused to do the HP request, and the next day there was a $700 auto CLI so I can't try again for 6 months.
SL was $5300 and sits at $10,500 now.
I get the same reason when I try for a CLI now. For me, it's not worth a hp.
I appreciate the responses. It's unfortunate that citi is a bit conservative with their sp CLIs. At least I can sleep at night knowing it wasn't just me haha
Yeah I started getting the same thing after my last statement cut, I'm not sure what that means. I'm planning on just waiting for them to get another SP CLI or I may just try a new HP for a Citi Custom Cash over the summer and see if that changes anything. Granted my card was only opened in November of last year. It may be a common thing due to economic things for profiles that have recently been approved/granted increases.
HI I have the Citi DC card since 2015 which started out with credit limit of 4K and today it has cl of 23.6K and my fico scores are over 800. In the last couple of months when I request increase on line or over the phone the system ssaids we need to do hard pull pull your credit report to see if you can be approved for increase just back out not worth a hard inquiry for 2K increase. Some thing has change in ther risk model also have the custom cash card which did get increase back in jan of this year for 2K with soft pull now has a credit limit of 8K. Check out my other threads about Citi denial increases.
Yeah, the info they have from their last SP or a/r is not current enough for them to feel confortable with a higher limit.
UPDATE:
I decided to try again for a sp cli and they gave me a $1500 increase this time. I'm happy, but also confused as to why citi didn't give me the increase last month. 🤷♂️
I agree, I had identical denial reason to you and even called up a CSR cause I was fine with letting a HP go through for a CLI but they didn't even know how to do it and I called up again still nothing so I decided to wait it out and magically on the next statement, CLI came through.
